The key to great wine in Mendoza is elevation. The altitude of a vineyard prevents grapes from ripening too fast, allowing the grapes to mature on the vine and adding complexity and balance to the finished wine. Lucky for Los Nevados, their vineyards sit at a lofty 4000 feet above sea level. The resulting wines are unbelievable values that are both pleasing and affordable. This malbec is hearty, with notes of game on the nose, dark cherries and plums on the palate and a kiss of oak on the finish.
