Located just a few short blocks away in the Paymaster building of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Kings County Distillery, the first whiskey distillery in NYC since Prohibition, has been producing Brooklyn whiskey since 2010. What starts off as a mash of 70% organic NY state corn and 30% Scottish barley is distilled twice and aged in small oak barrels for over fourteen months, with the final product being surprisingly full bodied for a whiskey so young. Notes of caramel, oak and a rich nutty sweetness run throughout with a sweet corn forward finish. Great for mint jelups, but absolutely begs to be sipped neat or with a cube of ice. This very limited bourbon rivals even some of the better Kentucky bourbons.
